Zymaderm is a cream remedy that is supposed to help treat molluscum contagiosum. It will not cause you any harm, but probably will not help much either.
Their website claims that Zymaderm is FDA-approved. A quick search of the FDA website for Zymaderm will turn up nothing. The truth is that Zymaderm is NOT APPROVED AS A CURE OR TREATMENT FOR MOLLUSCUM CONTAGIOSUM. All that there is to it is that the active ingredients that are found in Zymaderm have been approved separately by the FDA as homeopathic ingredients because they are not medicinal ingredients and are not known to cause harm. So Zymaderm is misleading you by claiming to be FDA-approved, because they make it sound like the cream itself has been approved as a treatment for molluscum, and this is definitely not the case.
The active ingredients of Zymaderm are iodine and tea tree oil. Both these ingredients have been suggested as possible treatments for molluscum, and you can buy them off the counter from your local drugstore. However, I have found that neither ingredient is very effective against molluscum.
As for the effectiveness of Zymaderm as a treatment for molluscum, the results vary significantly. It seems to work better on children than on adults. But it does not work all the time. Zymaderm's claims that it works 91% of the time is a stretch of the truth. However, keep in mind that they allow 6 months and more for the cream to work, which means that by that time, the molluscum could have cleared by itself, not due to Zymaderm. This is probably why it seems to work better on children, because molluscum on children clears faster than on adults. So Zymaderm is probably taking credit for treating molluscum that cleared all by itself, not due to Zymaderm.
If you are looking desperate for a treatment for your child, them Zymaderm is a safe possibility to try. It may work, but it definitely is not guaranteed. They will refund your money of it does not work in 6 months. But by that time, the molluscum would probably have cleared by itself.
My Rating for ZymaDerm: 6/10
